Make Free Calls on Your Android Phone Over Wi-Fi/3g Using Talkatone

Getting Started

Step 1. On launching the Talkatone app the user will be prompted to add either a Google or Facebook account. The Google account is required to make free calls.

Step 2. After the Talkatone connects an outgoing call can be made by either using the dial pad or by selecting a number form the contacts or the recently called list.

Step 3. For first time users it is advised to make at least one call via Gmail in the web browser before using Talkatone.

Step 4. After that the app work just fine with the Google Account. In order to receive incoming calls some changes is required to be made.

Step 5. In the Google Voice Account the “Forward to Google Chat” option needs to be enabled.

Step 6. After signing in the Talkatone will run in the background and will constantly show notifications during an incoming call.

Step 7. For sending text messages the “Text Forwarding” features needs to be enabled in Google Voice. Once this is done text messages can easily be sent and received.

Step 8. Status can be changed by opening the Settings screen and under Accounts customize the status.

Step 9. Call quality can also be adjusted. There are separate settings that can be tweaked in Call Quality Settings screen for Wi-Fi and Cellular connections. High or low quality can be adjusted for high or low bandwidth respectively.
