Default recovery for galaxy ace have very limited options and for a root user it is nearly impossible to customize his phone without a custom recovery .
Here Clockwork mod recovery also known as CWM comes , its a custom recovery made by developers to unlock your rooted phone potential.
With clockwork mod recovery you can –
- Install zip from sdcard option will allow us to install Custom ROMs , Just put a .zip file and install , it is lot more easier option because no need to pc and Odin
- You can make full system backup on your sd card and restore them as well
- It allows you to mount several locations and also format SD card or SD card in ext.
- and it also have some advance options like reboot in recovery mode, wipe dalvik cache, report error, fix permissions and partition sdcard.

Now a new version 5 of CWM for galaxy ace came with some improvements, if you want to install cyanogen mod on galaxy ace then you will need this version.

Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2.6 for Galaxy ace
Installing clockwork mod recovery on galaxy ace is same as previous version , and very simple too 
- After downloading you will get a zip file, save it on desktop and don’t extract it
- Now connect your phone to pc and paste that zip file to SD card as it is
- Disconnect your phone from pc,
- Now Switch off your phone
- And in switch off condition, Press and hold Middle key + Power on key until you see default recovery
In this mode touch screen will not work , so use volume keys to navigate through options and middle key to select/confirm
- Select ‘Apply Update from SDcard’ option in recovery menu
- Browse and select zip file we copied in step 2
- Once done select reboot system now option
Congratulations!! You have successfully installed Clockwork Mod Recovery on your Galaxy Ace , whenever you will go to recovery (middle+power on key) you will see new CWM recovery instead of old

How to upgrade ClockworkMod Recovery V5 on Galaxy Ace S5830?
just install it like, u have install your first cvm
yes just boot in old recovery and select install.zip from sd card
which option do we select when upgrading from CWM 4.0.0.9 to CWM 5.0.2.6. Is it:
a) apply update from sd card or
b) install zip from sd card.
I think it is Update from sd card but i dont know for sure..

i choose install zip and i try restore again. now my phone reret many times. no access.

why I need to install ClockworkMod Recovery to install custome rom?
there is option in defult recovery mod that ‘Apply Update from SDcard’ so I direct choose the custom rom from that option also please clerify me? I use Galaxy ace..

hey i got a problem here. when i got recovery mod and when i press middle key button for choose file it says no such a file on directory. wt do now. i aint got any menu to choose the filr to update. wt to do? plz help me
Thanks alot. I have succesfully rooted my galaxy ace and installed Clockwork mod. But I want cyanogen on my phone. Is there another tutorial on this website on how to do this?? Because I dont want to figure things out by myself, because thats how my phone bricked last time…

stuck on the boot screen when pressing middle button+Power button after update this .zip file.

I did the exact same thing on my S5830 . . . but now when open CWM(middle key+power on key), the phone directly switches on. The Clockwork Mod recovery doesn’t appear at all . . . what have i done wrong . . . ?????

i installed ClockworkMod Recovery V5 on Galaxy Ace S5830 and now when i clicked to backup ROM from ClockworkMod Recovery it restarted and didn showed anything except the samsung logo. what is the way out… how to do hard reset to it..?
