On Thursday Samsung Electronics officially announced its new device – Galaxy S III Mini, a compact version of the flagman company’s smartphone Samsung Galaxy S III.
As the representatives said it is going to be a “compact smartphone with a 4.0-inch screen that can be an optimal choice for consumers who are looking for more practical smartphones.”

Galaxy S III Mini runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is equipped with a Super AMOLED WVGA 4-inch screen with the resolution of 800×480 pixels, a dual-core 1 GHz processor. It has 121.55 x 63 x 9,85 mm size and weight of 111.5 grams.
Speaking about the general outlook of the Mini model it is too alike to its big brother, Samsung Galaxy S III. The only difference consists in a more compact size, and it will be a great advantage for those who are looking for a great gadget having the latest technological achievements, but only in a small size.
And even though the Mini hasn’t got a quad core processor as its big brother, it is able to perform all the necessary functions without any glitches. Samsung Galaxy S III Mini has got all smart technologies that make interaction with the smartphone much easier and faster.
S Voice, a voice recognition technology, lets you use voice commands to unlock your smartphone with simple commands. Voice managements allows you to play songs, adjust the volume, make comments in the organizer, automatically run the camera and take photos.
Samsung Galaxy S III mini also recognizes gestures. Smart Stay function with the front camera captures the movement of the eyes and support the backlight on as long as the user looks at the screen. When a user is reading an SMS, Direct Call feature allows you to automatically dial a number simply by putting your phone to your ear.
The Smart Alert function alerts about the missed calls or messages when the user picks up the smartphone. S Beam feature allows you to share music files of 10 MB in size in two seconds by simply touching another device with the function S Beam, such as Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II, without having to install Wi-Fi connection or transfer data via any other network.
The feature of photo sharing – Buddy photo share – allows you to share pictures with all your friends in the photo at the same time directly from the camera or from the photo gallery. Isn’t it exciting?
And here are some other specs of Samsung Galaxy III Mini that make it an amazing smartphone:
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 4″ Super AMOLED display
- 1GHz dual-core processor
- 1GB of RAM,
- 5MP Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, VGA secondary camera and 720p video recording;
- FM radio with RDS, 3.5mm audio jack;
- 8 GB or 16GB of ROM, that can be expanded up to 32GB with microSD (RAM was reduced to 1GB in comparison to the Galaxy S III, however, it doesn’t influence on the productivity greatly, vice versa it helps to save some energy);
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n,
- 3G (HSDPA: 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA: 5.76Mbps),
- Bluetooth v 4.0, GPS/GLONASS and
- NFC (As you can see the whole range of possible networks and data transmission systems is presented in this “mini” smartphone, including the latest Bluetooth and NFC); 1,500mAh battery which life is supposed to be a long one.
Unfortunately, there is no official data about the price of the gadget, but Clove claimed it to be about $400. And it is almost a third price less than of Galaxy S III has! And it makes the phone a truly good competitor to the big bro and to newly released iPhone 5.

It is left less than a month to wait for the Galaxy S III Mini to be able to test the phone and its features as the official sales are supposed to start in November.
