(II) Download Required Files
- Download needed drivers for your pc from here and install them
- Download Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 from here
- Download Android 2.3.4 update file from here

(III) Instruction on How to Update Samsung Galaxy Ace to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread
—(a) Set Odin on PC
- Extract the S5830DDKQ5.rar file and save it on safe place , you will get a .tar file don’t extract it further leave as it is
- Install drivers on pc
- Run Odin Multi Downloader v4.38.exe [Run it as administrator , right click on it and run it as administrator , if you are using windows 7]
- Tick the check boxes ‘One Package’ , ‘Auto Reboot’ & ‘Protect OPS’ [see image below]
- Now click on OPS and select Cooper-v1.0.ops file
- After it click on One Package and select S5830DDKQ5_S5830ODDKQ5_S5830DDKQ5_HOME file
—(b) Starting update
- Boot your phone in download mode by pressing Middle Key + Volume Down Key + power on key
- Now connect your phone to pc with the help of usb cable
Note: Don’t proceed if you are unable to put your phone in Download Mode
- When you will connect your phone to pc , you will see in Odin first box from left will turn yellow, and in message box it shows ADDED. this mean your phone is connected successfully
- Now you can hit START button and it will start upgrading process
let the phone reboots itself and after it you can disconnect, congratulations you have installed latest android 2.3.4 Gingerbread firmware successfully
(IV) Clearing cache data
During flashing process , some cache data is stored on your phone, so we have to clear it -
- Switch off your phone
- Boot your phone in recovery mode by Pressing Middle key + power on key
- In recovery menu Use volume up/down keys to go through options and press middle key to select
- select Wipe Cache partition and then Wipe data/factory reset
- Now select reboot system now , and it will reboot your phone is normal mode

I have a problem though, after flashing ODIN goes all the way until that blue part where it says PASS but when the phone tries to reboot it stays off! then when i try turn on it just shows samsungs logo but keeps like reseting and showing logo back and forth… I noticed I didnt install any drivers for pc… would this mess up my installation?? help!

If you updating from previous 2.3.4 (i.e the xxkph) to the latest indian version (i.e the DDKQ5), no data will be lost. I updated my ace yesterday from xxkph to ddkq5. All the data including contacts, apps, app settings and other phone preferences were intact even after the update. No data was lost.
But it is always safe to backup your contacts and other stuff before upgrading.

hi.. again i actually mannaged to root the phone again no problem… i do have a little question.. since i upgraded to this i noticed that when im using one the reader programs when ever i turn a page or just tap on the screen the two little key lights turn on.. is there anyway to stop these lights from turning on… its nothing major but when i am reading at night it gets a little annoying… i didnt do this before in your prievious gingerbread update… thanks for any ideas

I have updated my Samsung Ace through Kies
I updated my phone to andrroid 2.3.3. It is well but I found one problem with signal and network. It display emergency call only. Actually, current SIM should have good signal.
One more thing, it happen only when I select Network Mode WCDMA. I believe that it does not detect 3G network properly after upgrading. What could be the solution.

I believe that 3G network must be weak at Pune, India. This is the reason that I was facing such issue.
Actually, WCDMA is showing very weak. I don’t believe that there is any issue with up-gradation. I will verity this network with other mobile.

Bricked the phone, but as per another site tutorial I again installed, I have came across a tutorial who suggests not to downgrade since this lead to file partition or something worse and dead the phone, what I faced the same. Anyway, I have again installed 2.3.4 what I installed by reading this tutorial.

I came across http://www.galaxy-ace.in/2011/07/how-to-start-bricked-samsung-galaxy-ace.html first although he is claiming that we need to follow his tutorial in order to downgrade, but I am pretty sure I have not done any mistake. Since I upgraded successfully as well as again upgraded successfully to recover from dead mode.
During downgrading phone did not boot itself and while I saw “Pass” message then still phone was in black screen. After “Pass” appeared, then next box turned to Yellow and showed a new port number, and stopped doing anything. But in case of successfully installed phone boots itself as well as we don’t see next Yellow box appear after blue background Pass message. I have some screenshots too.
After waiting for pretty while time, I removed the phone and it was in Emergency Dload Mode – ARM09 – black screen.
Anyway, I visited several other forums/tutorial while searching, but I am sure somewhere I saw that downgrading leads some partition errors due to file type and cause the phone dead.
Above tutorial also did not help me to bring back again to yellow colored download mode, rather I followed http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-ace/344505-tut-how-unbrick-your-galaxy-ace.html and it again showed me that yellow colored doenload mode and install 2.3.4.
Now phone is alive atleast.

Help me Please!! I bought galaxy ace 4 days before. I installed kies downloaded from samsung’s site. when i connect phone to kies via usb cable a message comes showing an update “PDA:KQ5/PHONE:KQ5/CSC:KQ5(INU)”, I go forward it and it starts download components but when it starts preparing to upgrade my phone it show connection lost to galaxy ace.. however other work like photo, music transfer goes well. I tried many time but same thing happens

success upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.4, now i got the problem is i can’t go to recovery mode and i din’t root my phone before….can any1 help me?
I did this tutorial and followed every step, and after the upgrade my screen keeps going off and the only way to get the screen back up is to lock the phone then unlock it. Also, the wifi only stays on for a few seconds and turns off and i can’t make it turn back on without turning off the phone then turning it back on… Any suggestions to help fix this?

But there is not much diff and both works perfectly except the one thing vch is troubling me is GPS , on both firmware version when m tryng to locate me it is showing “YOUR LOCATION IS TEMPORARY UNAVAILABLE”! i want to add that my mobile internet conctn works perfectly as i can browse i can download things etc,,

after follow all the given instruction in the last windows there is restore center what to do there….? how the yellow triangle shown showing downloading mode
there are two option restore center or click ok after clicking ok it shows failed….
